Brooklyn Mixed Use Development

Developed in partnership with Bernheimer Architects and Haussman Development, this ground-up mixed-use project occupies a large, complex parcel defined by intricate boundaries and non-standard dimensions. The design responds to the need for contextually appropriate urban density while creating a more distinctive and inviting architectural presence. Rather than treating the site’s irregular geometry as a constraint, the project uses its most challenging angles as opportunities for architectural expression, incorporating curtain wall elements and large-scale graphics at key moments in the massing. For the more regular portions of the building, the design draws on the area’s historic material palette and architectural language. Rich brick detailing gives depth and texture to the more rigid forms, avoiding the excessive articulation often seen in high-density development while maintaining a strong relationship to the surrounding urban fabric.
